How We Integrate Sculptures into the Book of Necromancer

Updated: May 9

There are processes that stand out more, and others that are less visible. What Mitzuki is currently working on is one of those less visible ones, which often go unnoticed even by the most detail-hungry eyes. Once the sculpture is placed on the back of the Book of Necromancer, we mix a special two-component paste that helps to blend the sculpture with the screen; in this way, the visual result is of a sculpture that is part of the screen and not simply glued on. This process also brings the advantage of making the attachment of the sculpture to the screen more solid, given its slender and elongated shape, and lacking large contact surfaces between the glue and the structure, as occurs with the skull on the right side of this master screen. It is not a necessary step and requires time, but it is one of those moments where the craftsman finds satisfaction in their work because they can dedicate part of the process to a meticulous, almost invisible detail, which nonetheless provides an aesthetic effectiveness that delights the hands and eyes of the worker, knowing that this detail, although invisible, will be part of the beauty that the screen will carry with it.
